Hello, I’m Mrs. Zissler and I’m looking forward to seeing your students in the Simon Library.
My goal for the library is to create a cozy, welcoming space where students can develop a love for books and reading. I want the library to feel like a place where students enjoy spending time, exploring new stories, and discovering books that interest them.
During our library time, we will read a book together and follow it with a simple, fun activity or coloring page that connects to the story. We will introduce and reinforce basic library and literacy concepts, including fiction and nonfiction, authors and illustrators, characters, settings, and story elements.
For our younger students, we will focus on building excitement around books, learning how to care for them, and becoming comfortable choosing and exploring books. As students move through kindergarten, first, and second grade, we will continue building on these skills while encouraging them to become confident, curious, and enthusiastic readers.
Most importantly, I want students to leave the library thinking, “I can’t wait to read another book!”
